Expanding Financial Inclusion in Africa – EFI

The project focused on group formation and mobilization of the community to save and lend using
the SILC methodology. By the end of 2021 the following had been achieved:
 The project was introduced in the six districts of operation: Kamuli, Kaliro, Kayunga, Buikwe,
Buyende and Tororo and formal authorization was granted.
 The project team was recruited. This composed of 1 project manager, 1 Accountant, 6 project
supervisors, 1 data capture clerk and 78 Field Agents.
 A total number of 13,546 (6,595 male and 6,951 female) clients were reached, trained and
supported to start saving. In the course of 2014, we were able to form 368 SILC groups in six
Districts of Buikwe, Kayunga, Kaliro, Kamuli, Buyende and Tororo.
 387,651,980 UGX was mobilized and saved by the 13,546 households.
 Different members within the SILC groups were able to start income generating activities like
selling silver fish, smoked fish and establishing food stalls.
